Mediaset deploys Gruppo TNT "TVHilites" |
Italian Broadcaster Mediaset deploys Gruppo TNT "TVHilites" systems based on Matrox DSX hardware.
Matrox® Video Products Group announced that Mediaset, one of Europe’s largest media companies and the leading free TV broadcaster in Italy, has fielded 22 automated production server systems, based on Matrox DSX™ technology, from leading Italian software developer and system integrator Gruppo TNT S.r.l. The systems, which replace traditional video servers, are based on Matrox X.mio cards, part of the Matrox DSX family of developer products, which provide multiple video and audio inputs and outputs.
Initially used by Mediaset to broadcast the Campionato Italiano di Calcio "Serie A" and "Serie B" football matches in September 2006, the systems are also being used extensively for other sports, news, and feature production. "We made an extensive search for a system that could give us the flexibility to effectively manage diverse digital content for our sports, entertainment, and news programs. The solution offered by Gruppo TNT turned out to be the most open and adaptable to meet our constantly growing needs" said Mauro Cassanmagnago, Research and Development Manager at Videotime S.p.A., Gruppo Mediaset.

Gruppo TNT TV Hilites: a networked editing suite |
TVHilites is a suite of software modules created in order to satisfy the present demands of TV broadcasters to produce and play-to-air the highlights as quickly as possible.
The most common context in which it is used is sport (in general during "live" events), but it can also be used for different purposes: reality shows, music festivals, talk-shows, important ceremonies, prize awards, and so on – that is to say all those situations in which, during a live broadcast or more commonly at the end of it, it is necessary to rebroadcast in real time the most interesting parts ("highlights"), having at one’s disposal a flexible and powerful system of logging, research and almost immediate going to air.
The product, then, is aimed at logging a series of events (e.g. in football – the most common usage scene – to identify goals, kicks, faults, expulsions, etc.), managing at the same time the marking (in and out) of the outstanding scenes on video, so as to make it possible to edit the highlights to be played to air very quickly, as well as to print the time sequence of relevant actions, and so on.

Gruppo TNT is shortlisted as a finalist, in partnership with Quantum, to an "IBC Innovation Award" for the "Hi-Lites" media content management project at Mediaset

Gruppo TNT was selected as a finalist for the 2008 IBC Innovation Awards, as a technological partner of Mediaset, in the content management category, together with Quantum for the StorNext filesystem, and DataDirect Networks for the storage.
The candidature for the prestigious recognition, which is awarded each year to a limited number of companies that show a high level of technological innovation in their products, is motivated by the sport highlights production system, created by Gruppo TNT for Mediaset.

Montreal, Canada – September 5, 2008 – Matrox® Video Products Group today announced that leading Italian software developer and system integrator Gruppo TNT S.r.l. has chosen the Matrox X.mio2 card, part of the Matrox DSX family of developer products, as the core of its Media Replay all-in-one instant replay and clip management system. Ideal for multi-camera shoots of live events such as sports, concerts, and reality shows; Media Replay continuously records up to four cameras on a single system with up to eight stereo audio tracks per channel.
